From Interstate-59 in Alabama, take the first Fort Payne exit, which is Exit 218. (23 minutes away from The Wilderness at this point)
1. Turn RIGHT at the exit light. Follow State Road 35 South to 11 North (1.1 miles) which is also Gault Avenue.
- NOTE: Stay in the left lane because the right lane veers off to the right, but don't get into the left turn lane at McDonalds.
- NOTE: You will be taking 35S up Lookout Mountain by following signs to Desoto State Park.

Turn LEFT onto |
2. Turn LEFT onto 11 North / Gault Avenue (which is still 35S) and continue following it (1.1 miles) through Fort Payne.

Turn RIGHT onto |
3. Just past the city park turn RIGHT onto 5th Street NE (which is still 35S). You will cross over the railroad tracks, through a traffic light and go around a bend (slowly). You will go approximately 2.4 miles up Lookout Mountain to the yellow, caution light. (13 minutes away at this point)

4. Turn LEFT at the yellow caution light. This will be County Road 89/ DeSoto Parkway |
4. Once at the top of Lookout Mountain you will see a yellow caution light. This will be County Road 89/DeSoto Parkway. Turn left and go 6.1 miles. You will go into Desoto State Park (observe the 30 MPH speed limit) and slowly drive around the huge rocks and down a hill. Continue through the park and then you will come to a "T".

Turn RIGHT onto |
5. Take a RIGHT onto County Road 165. Go 1 mile to County Road 625.

6. Turn RIGHT onto County Road 625. Go another mile to County Road 626.

Turn right onto |
7. Turn RIGHT onto the dirt road (actually you'll go straight) which is County Road 626.

Turn right into |
8. Go 0.8 miles to the end of the road and you'll see a sign for The Wilderness. We are the driveway on the right, just past the mailboxes.
